Court-Based Case Manager
Cranston, Rhode Island (On-Site)
Brief Description of Duties:
Attends court on a routine basis to establish client contact and represent clients according to Justice Assistance program assignment. Records case-related management information system data, writes and files correspondence and tracks case progress and outcome. May be required to fill in for other Case Managers on an as-needed basis (e.g., illness or vacation). Coordinates work with Court-Based Project Manager and subordinate staff.
Reports To: Court-Based Project Manager and Senior Court-Based Case Managers
Works With: All Court-Based Case Management Personnel; Intake Clerk/Receptionist; Staff Members Associated with Other Programs/Projects Within the Justice Assistance Family of Services.
Tasks (listed by priority):
Attend court on routine basis to establish client contact and represent client needs according to assigned Justice Assistance program.
Record and maintain all case data and correspondence.
Coordinated daily activities with and report problems and case outcomes to the Project Manager.
Produce required reports.
Work with the marketing and development staff to share stories, outcomes and special events that should be amplified through social media.
Work with case management and office staff on program activities such as task forces, planning exercises, etc.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of Justice Assistance’s’ role in Rhode Island justice system.
Bachelor’s Degree required in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Justice Studies, or related field.
Confident public speaking, interpersonal and communications skills.
Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel).
Related Skills:
Methodical approach to problem resolution.
Awareness of resources available to solve case-related problems.
Notes About This Position:
The Case Manager is the principal Justice Assistance representative for District Court and for the clients involved in the program. The Case Manager oversees all casework for these counties, including program presence at court, client contact, data entry, file maintenance and case resolution. The Case Manager works in conjunction with Senior Case Managers to draft, organize and file correspondence for all counties. They also assist with administrative functions as they relate to the department overall.
Required:
Driver’s License and vehicle or reliable transportation to get to all district county courthouses.
Professional clothing appropriate for courtroom setting.
